Safety Center

Meeting new people should be exciting — and safe. These are our recommendations for protecting yourself on Nonna, on first dates, and at our events. Your safety always comes first; trust your instincts and never feel obligated to continue something that doesn't feel right.

Before you meet

  • •Take your time. There's no rush to move off Nonna, share your number, or meet up. Anyone pressuring you to do so quickly is a red flag.
  • •Keep chatting in the app until you're comfortable — it keeps a record our team can act on if something goes wrong.
  • •Do a quick search. It's normal to look someone up before meeting. If their story doesn't add up, trust your instincts.
  • •Look for the verified badge. Members can verify with a selfie; it's an extra signal a profile is a real person.

Meeting in person

  • •Meet in public the first few times — a busy café, restaurant, or one of our events. Stay in public until you trust them.
  • •Tell a friend or family member where you're going, who you're meeting, and when you expect to be back. Share your live location.
  • •Arrange your own transport, there and back, so you can leave whenever you want.
  • •Don't leave drinks or belongings unattended, and know your limits. If you ever feel unsafe, leave — you don't owe anyone an explanation.

Protect your money and information

  • •Never send money or financial details to someone you haven't met — no matter their story. Requests for money, gift cards, crypto, or 'investment help' are scams.
  • •Be cautious of anyone who quickly professes strong feelings, refuses to video chat or meet, or always has an emergency that needs cash.
  • •Keep personal details (home address, workplace, daily routine, financial info) private until you genuinely trust someone.

Reporting and blocking

  • •Tap the ⋯ menu on any profile or chat to Block or Report. Blocking is instant and works both ways — they can't see you or contact you, and you won't see them.
  • •Report anyone who makes you uncomfortable, asks for money, sends inappropriate content, or seems underage or fake. Reports are confidential.
  • •Our team reviews every report, with urgent cases (threats, violence, underage) prioritised. We warn, suspend, or permanently remove accounts that break our guidelines.
  • •If you matched with someone we later remove, we'll let you know.

At our events

  • •Our events are held in public venues. Hosts are there to help — find them if you feel uncomfortable or need anything.
  • •Anyone you've blocked is kept away from events you attend, and removed members can't attend.
  • •The same rules apply in person: meet in public, arrange your own way home, and tell someone your plans.
  • •Treat everyone with respect. Harassment of any kind gets you removed from the event and the platform.

In an emergency

  • •If you're in immediate danger or have been assaulted, contact your local emergency services first (911 in the US).
  • •You can report a serious safety concern to us any time at safety@meetnonna.com — include names, screenshots, and dates if you can.
  • •Support is available: in the US, the National Sexual Assault Hotline is 1-800-656-4673, and the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline is reachable by calling or texting 988.
